The article Elena K. Lincoln has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- GoogleBooks and GoogleScholar searches produce little of relevance; does not appear to pass WP:PROF.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nsk92 (talk) 03:29, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
I understand the concern that the Elena K. Lincoln page may not coincide with Wikipeida's policies on notability. However, after I read her works, I found it very interesting to examine her theories on the social structure in Mayan society. She proposed that marriages could practically be predicted between kin groups in Mayan society, even up to the 17th century. This is very interesting, because it seems to draw off some of the former work of people including Sylvanus Morley and Gordon Willey, who I understand she studied under in the 1980s whilst working in Yucatan, and while changing some of their theories by proposing her own, modern studies such as those from Latin American Antiquity journal and journals emanating from the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard.
